Modular, friendlier tag URLS on Feed Me Links

I’m slightly abashed to announce this new Feed Me Links feature because it should have been done a LONG time ago — but it’s here now: …introducing clean URLs for your tags! an example is worth 1000 words:

feedmelinks.com/~jm3/dvd , as opposed to feedmelinks.com/f/2595.

This cleaner URL style (and behind the scenes code) afford some nice benefits: now, the URL contains the invaluable metadata of WHOSE links these are (previously, only the tag ID traveled with the URL, not the tag name or owner).

The new code also supports the older /u/USERNAME/TAGNAME style urls, i.e. http://feedmelinks.com/u/jm3/ipod )

Try it out!

There is some debate within the Feed Me Links cartel around whether or not the ID-based urls (i.e. feedmelinks.com/f/451) within the Feed Me Links pages should be replaced with the friendler, more modular human-readable, tagname urls. Feedback on this decision is welcome.

Coming soon: Flickr-style www.feedmelinks.com/tags/music URLs that smoosh together everyone’s links for a given tag into one list… stay tuned.
