I discussed some of the risks of an un-anchored sabbatical tonight with J–. he strongly recommends working at least partially within the confines of academia to reap the network benefits (enthusiasm, rich resources) of an academic system. He’s probably right. i’m going to try and schedule something with MR and/or PH tomorrow, even though i don’t have my plan written out yet.
