Nokia’s Software is Willfully, Woefully Ignorant of Macs
People who buy unlocked phones like to do things differently.
They have a thirst for the newest toy, the shiniest gadget, the latest feature. This same “Early Adopter” market overlaps heavily with the “Mac Power User” market — hackers and creators who love their Mac because it has today what PCs will have in four years.
I bought my unlocked Nokia phone (from Asia) because I knew my phone would have features that wouldn’t appear in the US for four more years. And I use a mac. I cannot use the latest features on my phone, or keep it current, because I have a mac. This is a huge cognitive disconnect. I bought a mac, and an unlocked Nokia, for the same reason, but nokia seems not to know this, or to not care enough to write a software updater for mac. Hell, put the request out on Rent a Coder if you don’t have mac developers in house.
Out of frustration, I am boycotting Nokia until they release a mac client for firmware upgrades. That is all.
